FAFSA Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
All FLAS applicants (undergraduate and graduate) are strongly encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the US Department of Education (US/Ed), as priority will be given to FLAS applicants who demonstrate a financial need.
US/Ed begins accepting FAFSA on January 1st.
After submitting a FAFSA to the US/Ed, US/Ed will send a Student Aid Report (SAR) directly to you as well as to the financial aid office of whichever university you indicate on your FAFSA.
University of Kansas Federal School Code: 001948
Students will receive their SARs approx. 2 weeks after submitting a FAFSA to US/Ed. Plan accordingly if you want to submit a FLAS application on time!
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be a dollar amount displayed prominently on the upper right hand corner of your SAR. Self-report this dollar amount on your FLAS application. If you are awarded a FLAS, the FLAS coordinator will confirm this amount with your university's Office of Financial Aid.
WARNING: If your university's Office of Financial Aid reports a different EFC than what you self-reported, your award will be rescinded and given to the next student on the alternate list.
